In REMEMBER THEM (a short film), “Rosalynn” Medina, a retired twenty-seven year homicide detective, fails to stop an elusive serial killer targeting the elderly.  Despite her progressive dementia, she continues to piece together clues and believes the murderer is someone she’s met in the past.  Alzheimer’s disease, or guilt could prevent her from turning in the killer who works in healthcare.  As Rosalynn’s condition worsens, “Jason”, her only son battles his own familial demons after the loss of his Dad in a car accident.  And not only does the estranged relationship between Jason and Rosalynn escalate during her pernicious memory decline (and unpredictable aggressive behavior) as the killer closes in, hot button issues of assisted suicide and child neglect also play out during several action-intense sequences.  To end Rosalynn’s suffering, the killer contrives a plan to administer barbiturates and a novel dementia therapy while framing “Hector”, a former gang member, for Rosalynn’s impinging murder.  In a race against time, “Sandoval”, Rosalynn’s former partner attempts to save her before the killer’s malicious deed is done.  REMEMBER THEM is a fresh take on the detective/serial killer genre that also involves themes surrounding the emotional struggles of caregivers to loved ones suffering from neurodegenerative disorder.  *The 19pg script is being expanded into a novella.
